Behavior consultation
We offer professional and personalized behavior counseling, during which we examine your dog, try to get to the root of the problem, and start from there. Every dog is different, and even if many have the same issues, their causes can vary greatly in each situation, which is why we need a personalized approach for each dog.
Approach
We have the skills and knowledge to teach your dog to sit and lie down, but we believe that these commands alone are not enough for your dog to be healthy and happy. Our goal is to teach you as a dog owner how to build a friendship and trust-based relationship with your dog that will help you understand each other throughout your lives and ensure you have a happy, calm, and confident furry friend.
Of course, we do all of this based on science-based and positive methods – there is no place in our consultations and training for techniques that would cause your dog additional stress, discomfort, or pain.
Location
The main place of activity for Kullakuu is the city of Tallinn and Harjumaa, but from time to time we also travel around Estonia and have thus met many wonderful clients from places like Tartu, Pärnu, Viljandi, Paide, and Mustvee. Each consultation is approached personally, and we always agree on the meeting location based on the need and the nature of the problem. In some cases, it is good to meet at the dog's home or in a comfortable place for them, while in other cases, it may be necessary to go to a quiet location or the forest – in any case, we can arrange the meeting in an environment that suits you and your dog.
Video consultation
It is also possible to have a video consultation. In this way, we have been able to assist several clients who live far away or for whom it is more reasonable to discuss the situation via video call due to the nature of their problem. If necessary, we ask you to share videos/pictures with us before the video consultation.
The consultation itself
Before the consultation, we ask you to fill out a questionnaire so that we can gather as much information as possible before the meeting. During the consultation, we will discuss the dog's background, behavior, and concerns. The goal is to get a detailed overview and agree on the next steps that the dog owner can follow independently.
Often, we ask you to visit a veterinarian before or after the consultation, as some behavioral issues may stem from pain or discomfort in the body, and we need to be sure that the dog does not have health-related concerns.
After the consultation, the dog owner will also receive a written summary along with the agreed action plan and instructions. We offer comprehensive advice and assistance even after the meeting and are just an email or phone call away.
Hedvi Kink – Behavioral Consultant for Children
Our behavior consultant Hedvi believes that learning must be ongoing. She helps dogs and advises their owners daily and believes that the best way to do her job well is to combine learning from specialists in the field – veterinarians, dog behavior consultants, scientists, etc. – and of course, from the dogs themselves. She is a member of the Pet Dog Trainers of Europe.
